Hi there, human! My name is Heaven’s Fire, aka The Dragon, aka the greatest horse that ever lived. Technically I am a pony, but they say attitude is everything, and I’m sure you’ll agree my attitude is quite large enough for a full-size horse.
I’ve been asked to start this blog by my Girl, who has been teaching lessons for many years now but gets that nobody knows HorseSense quite as well as a horse. She’s a pretty good Girl – very trainable, keeps pockets full of treats – so I agreed to help her out. It’s not like this is my first writing assignment, after all. And the more I think about it, the more I’m sure I can help other horse enthusiasts, like YOU.
First, a few vital statistics about me:
My hobbies include eating, zooming around the arena during “liberty” play time, eating, frustrating timid new students with halters, eating (have I mentioned how much I like bananas? Or Senior Snax?), indulging my Girl in some bridleless riding, and eating.
I like posing for cameras and farting right in front of the horse show judge. I’ve had a lot of boyfriends, but in my old age I’ve gotten picky and I don’t have much use for needy, clingy geldings.
I’ve learned a few things in my many years, and I’ve helped teach a LOT of lessons. I think it will be fun to share what I know with a wider audience. You might get a few opinions sprinkled in with my wisdom, because what kind of mare would I be if I didn’t speak my mind? Mostly, though, I’ll be talking about things I think every horseperson should know.
You’ll get the inside scoop on what your horse is really thinking and what he needs to be happy. I’ll take you behind the scenes so you can learn what lesson horses, instructors and barn managers all want you to know. Hopefully you’ll gain a little HorseSense from our time together – and don’t let the mare face fool you, I really do like making new friends.
