We like matching up our students with the right horse, and we LOVE finding good owners for horses we care about -- because ultimately our goal is to make horses happy!

We are also very, very picky.  We don't keep horses here that have social issues or behavioral problems, and we don't sell or lease our horses to people who aren't ready for the big commitment.

We encourage inexperienced folks to consider leasing a horse before taking the plunge -- sort of a try-before-you-buy deal that gives you the benefit of having your own horse without the expense and commitment of full ownership.  It allows you to find out for sure that you have the time, the desire, and the financial resources to keep a horse happy.

Horses may be leased here at HorseSense on a full or part-time basis; most owners offer flexible arrangements to suitable riders. Read more about our horse lease program here.

If you're in the market for a horse, and don't see one here that fits your needs, let us know -- we always seem to know LOTS of reliable people with horses to sell.

HORSESENSE HORSES FOR LEASE:

Rhiannon over fencesRHIANNON

Bay mustang mare, 14 years old, 15.1 hh

Athletic mustang mare seeks partner! Rhiannon is currently schooling Training Level dressage and over fences. She has three nice gaits and has started in basic lateral work. She's had hunter pace and extensive trail experience. She's jumped grids and single fences up to 3' and is working on confident, rhythmic courses.

Rhiannon can be spooky, so she needs a tactful, experienced rider. (Orange Level or above.)

Rhiannon at pastureAvailable for on-site quarter (2 days per week) or half-lease (3 days per week), with potential showing opportunities.

Lease fees: $50 (quarter) or $100 (half) for our students, $75 (quarter) or $125 (half) for non-students.

Look for Rhiannon (in the blue ear bonnet) in this video; you can also see videos of her here, here and here.

Jay over fences LOKI (Jay)

Palomino Haflinger gelding, 12 years old, 14.0 hh

Jay has been a school horse for over two years now, and has formed a solid partnership with one of our students on a quarter-lease basis. We'd like to fill out his dance card to keep him fit enough for jumping -- which he seems to LOVE even though he's built like a typical Haflinger/small tank.

Like most Haflingers, he's smart and personable and athletic, but can be strong and sensitive to leg pressure, so he needs a confident intermediate rider, Blue Level or equivalent.

Jay flatworkHe moves nicely on the flat, and is schooling Training Level dressage. He performed well at his first Intro Level dressage show, and at the Amoeba level Chatt Hills CT, where he also schooled without drama over the Tadpole cross-country course. He's currently schooling courses up to 2'6" and gridwork up to 3', and has shown successfully in 2' Jumpers.

We're looking for an additional on-site quarter (2 days per week) or half-lease (3 days per week), with potential showing opportunities.

Lease fees: $50 (quarter) or $100 (half) for our students, $75 (quarter) or $125 (half) for non-students.
